Wellington Provincial Tourney QUALIFYING ROUND There were no real surprises in the qualifying rounds for the Wellington amateur provincial golf championship, which were played at Miramar on Saturday. MANAWATU TOURNEY Semi-finalists Found Palmerston North, March 28. The New Zealand amateur golf champion. J. A. Hornabrook (Manawatu), led the field against such notable performers as A. D. S. Dunean (Masterton), T. 11. Horton (Masterton), K. Glendinning (Manawatu), and N. H. W. Amon (Rangitikei), after the qualifying rounds in the Manawatu Golf Club’s annual Easter tournament, which began at the Hokowhitu links at the week-end. The course was in first-class order.

A fourball best-ball competition yesterday afternoon saw a tie between Hayward and Hausen and O'Callaghan and Bing, with 6 up; Edgar and Johansen, Kent and Reid, and Barton and Petley, were 5 up. Manor Park Club The third day’s play in the Manor Park club’s Easter tournament was concluded on Sunday, and two series of matches in the championship, Manor handicap, and flights have been completed. On Saturday morning the fourball bestbnll bogey competition was won by J. R. Wilson, and R. Telford, who finished 5 up on bogey, and in the afternoon E. Jloriarty scored 35 points in the Stablcford bogey. Two visitors from Belmont (Wanganui), Mrs. J. C. Brown and B. Pow’er, won the foursome stroke terday morning with a score' of 81-7-74. Tho runners-up in this event were D. Butler and F. IT. Gruar (Jlanor Park), who also finished with a net 74, but the former pair won on the count back. In the afternoon a stroke competition was won by R. Lusty JWaiwetu), with a good card of 85-20-65. In the championship matches, B. Power (Belmont) has reached the final, his opponent being F. W. Page, the Manor Park club champion. The semi-finals for the handicap events will take place this morning, and the finals of all events in the afternoon. Watts, D. Sloane, A. M. Caughley, and IV. Corbett close up.
