Increased Realisation
Returns issued by the National Council of Wool Selling'Brokers, of Australia show that from .Inly 1 Io February -b sales of wool in the principal s'-fllmg centres of the Commonwealth were „,l_b,obo bales, which realised £43,498,040 in Australian currency. Compared with the corresponding period of the previous season the quantity of wool sold shows a decrease of 78,558 bales, but. the amount realised an increase of £4,;>33.111. The greasy and scoured wool sold averaged £-0 9/2 per bale, or 16.4 d. per lb., the previous season’s average for the similar period being £l7/13/6 per bale, or 14..->d. per lb., and 1934-35 £l2/9/4 per bale, or 9.7(1. per lb. The greasy wool sold during February averaged 15.2<1. per lb., the average for February. 1936. 1.».7<1.. and February, 11)35. 9.5i1. Empire Sugar Conference By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 24. A meeting over which Mr. Ramsay MacDonald presided has been hold and attended by representatives of the Government and of the Dominions and colonies, relative to sugar. A. preliminary discussion of the programme of the sugar conference took place and the meeting decided to refer certain difficulties to technical experts who will report to Mr. MacDonald.
