CORONATION BALL

Lower Hutt Event Planned Arrangements for a coronation ball to be held in the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, on the night of the coronation, Wednesday, May 12, were advanced at a .public meeting last night. Enthusiasm was the keynote of the meeting, and it was stated that every effort would be made to assure that the ball was one of the most successful held iu the town for years. It is hoped that if the Royal broadcast coincities with the nail, which will be held between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., it will be possible to rebroiylcast it in the dance hall. It was agreed that admission should be bv invitation. Executive officers and strong sub-com-mittees were appointed to further arrangements. Mr. N. T. Gillespie was appointed chairman, Mr. J. Fletcher secretary, and the mayor, Mr. J. \\ . Andrews, treasurer. The executive committee set up consists of Messrs. J. E. F. Vogel, G. R. Clark, 11. Harrison, J. M. Carlson, W. F. Hadwin and 11. Hutt, together with the chair* man. secretary and treasurer. Messrs. W. 11. Smith and J. M. Carlson were appointed to constitute an advertising comnr/tee, and those to attend to the decorations arc Messrs. E. Hutt, G. A. Williams, H. Edwards, W. Burton, A. Binning and D. Somervell.
