PROPHECY WITHOUT TEARS

“The Passionate Astrologer,” by Alan Griffiths, illustrated by A. Savory (London: Barker).

When an astrologer with, a living to be earned by making predictions in a daily newspaper encounters a most attractive young female angel sent earthward on some celestial mission, and not only wins her heart, but obtains possession of her prophetic scroll of forthcoming events, it is not difficult to see why lie should come to be hailed as the greatest seer of all time. This is what happened to Gilbert Farmiloe, who was fortunate enough to be on hand to offer hospitality when the wayward angel Dorine had to make a forced landing on one wing. Tho author treats this bright conceit with much dexterity, and has produced an amusing fantasy, witty and delightfully gay and entertaining.
