SETTLEMENT REACHED

Racehorse Trainer’s Claim

A compromise was reached yesterday on a civil claim for £299 for training expenses and a 10 per cent, share of stakes in respect of the racing mare Rona Bay. The action, which was brought by William Henry Joues, jockey, against Osmond Disley, merchant, was heard in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, before Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M. Disley claimed a substantial set-off in respect of moneys stated to have been paid to Jones, and the parties reached a compromise yesterday afternoon, Disley agreeing to pay Jones the sura of £50,. plaintiff to pay his own costs and return a racing cup. Plaintiff was represented b.v Mr. A. B. Sievwright, and defendant by Mr. B. Cahill. The whole of Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon, and yesterday morning were occupied with taking of accounts between plaintiff and defendant.
