During the filming of a movie battle scene a bomb exploded on the Universal lot, splinters killing George Daley, an extra operating a machine-gun. Daley, aged 41, was a machine-gunner during the World War. A group of other extras narrowly escaped death. Among the actors and actresses were Richard Cromwell, Louise Fadeima, Barbara Reid, and Slim Somerville.
