Wilding Shield Tennis Matches NUNNELEY CASKET GAMES By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, February 5. Canterbury secured a lead of four matches to two iu the Wilding Shield challenge lawn tennis series to-day against Wellington. Results:— Singles (Canterbury names first) : Angas beat Bedford, 6-4, 6-3; Barnett beat Coombe, 7-9, 6-1, 6-1; Dymond lost to France, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6; Cant lost to Roussell, 6-4, 2-6, 0-6. Doubles: Angas and Dymond beat Bedford and Coombe, 6-3, 6-4; Barnett and Cant beat Roussell and France, 4-G, 6-3, 6-1. Canterbury: Four rubbers, 10 sets, 80 games; Wellington: two rubbers, six sets, 67 games. Results in the Nunneley Casket matches were:—
Singles: Miss T. Poole beat Miss Howe, 6-3, 6-3; Miss I. Poole lost to Miss Nicholls, 0-6, 1-6; Miss Rudkin lost to Miss Douthett, 2-6, 5-7; Miss Bishop beat Mrs. Latham, 6-2, 7-5. Double: Misses Bishop and Rudkin lost to Misses Nicholls and Douthett, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6; Misses T. and I. Poole beat Mrs. Latham and Miss Howe, 6-4, 6-4. Canterbury: Three rubbers, seven sets, 56 games; Wellington: Three rubbers, six sets, 62 games.
