CHILDREN’S PARTY

Entertained by Returned Soldiers Father Christmas filled an exactingrole at the Horticultural Hall, Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon, when over 000 children were the guests of the Returned Soldiers Association. • Mr. H. Edwards, chairman of the social committee, and Mr. A. E. Pattinson, welcomed both children and older folk, and thanked the women’s club for their assistance. The tree glittered with ornaments. Tiny electric lights twinkled among the green, and it was loaded. with hundreds of intriguing parcels. Father Christmas dealt with the children in batches, and throughout the afternoon expectant little folk climbed the steps to the stage to receive a gift and good wishes from Father Christmas.

An interesting programme was enjoyed, the items beitvr as follows: —A fairy play, the children (pupils of Miss Dinnisoni. being daintily dressed for their parts; an item by Miss Heather Wright’s pupils, whose dancing was accompanied by Biper McLellan ; a national dance by Miss Peggy Tovey; recitation, Master Mustard: dance in character, Lloma Larsen, with Miss K. Bartosh as accompanist. Afternoon tea, including ice-cream, was served for the little ones in the hall, and for the adults in the supper-room.
