SCHOOL FETES
Waiwetu and Randwick i Successful fetes were held at Waiwetu and Handwick schools on Saturday afternoon. The Hon. F. Jones, Postmaster-Gene-ral, opened the fete at Handwick school and made special reference to the work of the school committees throughout the country; A graceful Grecian dance by senior girls in costume was the tirst item, and character songs by the little ones garbed in green, gold, and silver, and representing every conceivable spring flower, were at attractive contrast. Always 'a popular and picturesque performance, a maypole dance followed, and both girls and boys were in charming early-Victorian costume. An excellent exhibition of drill by boys and girls brought the programme to a close. Bright music by the Hutt Municipal Band was also an enjoyable feature of the afternoon.
