ANCIENT CUSTOM STILL KEPT
Mr. Richard Hughes, novelist find dramatist, has been elected a constable and juryman of the only town in Britain, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, which still preserves till the customs of an early 13th century charter, granted by King John. A grand jury is selected, and four constables, who, in recent times, were responsible for law and order, are appointed. Mr. Hughes lives at Laugharne Castle, which was built in the thirteenth century.
