PUBLIC OPINION IN NEW ZEALAND
Correspondents’ Views on the Marriage Issue “I TRUST MR. BALDWIN”
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In the midst of all this hysterical outcry of “No dictators —Give us our King, right or wrong,” it may not be out of place to say something on Air. Baldwin’s behalf. In a book I recently read, it is stated that Air. Baldwin is one of the two men in England, who, after the war, voluntarily handed over to the State the profits he had made out of war munitions, because he felt he could not keep money made out of the sufferings of his fellows. Does this, then, seem the type of man who would foment political strife to achieve a dictatorship for himself? In the words of Lord Craigavon, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, “I trust Air. Baldwin.” who is probably the most unhappy man in the world over this madness that besets the King.— I am, etc., BE FAIR. Feilding, December 8.
