The Misses Wilson (Bulls) are the guests of their Excellencies at Government House. Miss Ethel Tanner is a Wellington visitor to Christchurch. Mrs. W. Green is a Wellington visitor to Auckland. Mrs J. Murphy, who has been visiting Nelson for the college sports, has returned to Wellington. Mrs Fred Grotrian, “Konewa,” Ashburst, is staying with her mother, Mrs. W. M. Shand, 82a Hobson Street. Miss Kathleen Hudson and Miss Beatrice Asher, Dunedin, are the guests of Mrs. F. N.' Grant, Willis Street. Mrs. H. Digby-Smith has returned to Wellington after a visit to the Islands on the Matua. Mrs. A. F. Bain, Wanganui, left Auckland on Saturday by the Monterey, en route for America. Mrs. R. H. McMaster, Featherston, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Fenwick, Napier. Mrs. A. W. Mouat, who has been visiting Wellington and Nelson, will leave on her return to her home in Tauranga this evening. Mrs. John Reid, Mrs. Magnus Johnson and Mrs. T. McGregor, Dunedin, have arrived at Wellington to attend the Dominion conference of the League of Mothers, which will open to-day. Mr. Redpath, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Tingey, Mr. John Reheldoffer, Mr. A. J. Boyd, and Miss E. Chapman, were recent Wellington visitors to Chateau Tongariro. A dinner party was tendered at the Midland Hotel on Monday by- Mrs. Frank Goldberg, in celebration of the seventieth birthday of her mother, Mrs. A. Levy, who was the guest of honour. A pleasant evening was spent by the guests, who comprised the near relatives of Mrs. Levy. Mrs. G. Shephard, of Holcombe, England, who was a- passenger on the Orion, is considering making New Zealand her permanent home, and is now visiting her brother, Mr. Pike, of Martinborough. Mrs. Shephard is a keen dog enthusiast, and has specialised in breeding spaniels. For eleven years she has owned the Plant Kennels in Holcombe, and many of her cocker spaniels have been winners in dog shows. Some of her dogs have been sent by air to India for breeding purposes. Mrs. Shephard brought her car with her and intends to see much of our country. She is a keen motorist, and has won several silver cups in England in motor races.
