The Peking correspondent of the • "Daily Telegraph” says that largescale hostilities between Mongol backed by Japan and Chinese supported by Russia are expected at any moment on the Turkestan, Manchurian, Mongolian and .Siberian frontiers. About 300,000 troops and tribesmen are ready for battle. Both sides are aiming at indirect control of the Peking-Suiyan railway in the neighbourhood of Peking, and at other communications which are likely to be important in the event of a Rus-so-Japanese clash.
