Miramar R.S.A. Auxiliary

•The Miramar Returned Soldier*’ Association auxiliary committees held a successful fair at the -Miramar Central School last Friday and Saturday. Mr. Gordon Harcourt, accompanied by Mrs. Harcourt, opened the fair dn Inday evening. Mrs. Harcourt and Airs. O. G. Smith, president of the local womens committee, were presented with posies of roses by Miss Gloria Climo and Miss Betty Goodwin. . The stalls were arranged m the classrooms of the main school. The convener of the produce stall was Mrs. O. G. Smith, who was assisted by Mesdames Godkin, Murphy, Lodder. and McCarthy. The sewing stall, with Mrs. Thomson as convener, assisted by Mesdames Cooper, East, and Pell, was in another room with the "“novelty stall, of which Mrs. Brown was convener, with Mrs. Smith, iun., and Mrs. Murray assisting. All these stalls showed a varied and attractive display of goods which was the result of many months of work by those in charge. The'adjoining room had the cake stall with Mrs. Beaumont as convener, with Mesdames Goodwin and Disney _ assistin’ The home-cooking competition resulted in Mrs. Belesky as winner for pikelets and shortbread, Mrs. Hood for scones, and Mrs. Walter fqr sponge For the junior competition Miss Audrey Smith was the winner for best sponge, pnd Miss Vera Beaumont for scones. Mr. 8. Caylor was in charge of the big _ Christmas cake, which he had appropriately and attractively decorated. The book and mystery parcel stall did good business; those in char’c being Mesdames Histed, Trower. Benson, and Wilson. The parcels were a great attraction, all those purchasing getting uood value. The sweet stall, with Mrs. Climo as convener, assisted by Mesdames Downes. Kean, and Rowlands, was well patronised This stall was attractively decorated with small flags. The competition for prettiest basket of sweets was won by Miss Audrey Smith, with Miss Margaret Benson second. Mrs. McCord was in charge of the ice cream and drinks, with Mrs. Ward assisting. AH the stalls were attractively decorated, red. while, and blue predominatin'’ The tearooms wore attractively laid out in one of the classrooms, Mrs. Smith, sen., being in charge with Mosdames Lookman and Bellingham assistThe sideshows and merry-go-round went to make the spirit of a successful fair, and the punch and indy proved a great attraction to the children.
