STRATHNAVER’S CRUISE

Due at Wellington Next Monday On her first cruise this season, the P. and O. liner Strathnaver, from Sydney, is to leave Brisbane at 9 a.m. to-day for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland next Friday afternoon, and will leave there late on Saturday night for Wellington, w-here she is due at 8 a.m. on Monday, leaving that evening on her return trip to Sydney. The Strathnaver has a heavy passenger list, including a large number booked through from London to New Zealand. When she left London the Strathnaver had 1124 passengers on board, but about 700 of these left the vessel at Bombay. Since her last visit she has proved herself the fastest liner in the history of the P. and O. Company. In September the liner was delayed by fog off Lisbon when returning from a Mediterranean cruise. But all passengers were landed in London at the scheduled time. On the last day the ship made a record run for the 24 hours of 520.8 nautical miles, at an average speed of 21.7 knots. It was a record for the Strathnaver and a record for any ship in the long history of the company. ; The achievement was made more creditable by the fact that the liner was not “all I out,” as one of her boilers was not in I use.
