NEW ZEALAND LAMB
First 4 Shipment to London
About to Leave
800 PRIME CARCASES
Dominion Special Service
Auckland, October 22.
The first consignment of New Zealand lamb for Loudon this season will be taken by the Remuera on Saturday. It comprises 800 prime carcases to be shipped on account of three firms. Owing to the backwardness of lambs this spring, fewer are being shipped than were taken last year by the same vessel. The price paid by exporters’ agents for this season’s consignment approximates to the schedule of 9sd. a lib. This, however, cannot be taken as an indication of prices which will be paid for future shipments. The figure is substantially higher than last year’s opening price, the increase being accounted" for by the competition of the local trade and by the smaller number of lambs available which are up to export standard.
