PERSONAL

Sir James Allen arrived at Wellington yesterday from the south. Mr. C. E. Robertson arrived at Wellington yesterday morning from the South Island. Mr. R. A. lock left for the south last night from Wellington.

Mr. W. A. Flavell, of the Westport Coal Company, left Wellington last night for Christchurch, en route to Dunedin.

Mr. E. Angus Jones, assistant-gen-eral manager for New Zealand of the Vacuum Oil Co. Pty., Ltd., was a passenger for the South Island from Wellington last night.

Mr. lan S. Bowater, of London, a director of W. V. Bowater and Sons, Limited, and the Edward Lloyd Investment. Company, will arrive in New Zealand on September 28. From New Zealand he will go to Australia and South Africa. He is accompanied by his wife, who is a daughter of Lord Dawson of Penn, Physician-in-Ordlnary to His Majesty the King. Mr. W H. Parr, of the staff of the Christchurch City (jjouncil, has been appointed assistant town clerk of Nelson. Mr. Parr is at present assistant accountant in the city council’s treasury department. He has been in the employ of the city council for the last 10 years and a half, before then being in the office of the registrar of Canterbury University College. He will commence work with the Nelson City Council about the middle of next month.
