Exchequer returns show that total ordinary revenue amounts to £258,946,769, compared with £263,617,680 at the corresponding date of last year. Greater activity in overseas trade is reflected in the total receipts from Customs and excise, which are £139,074,000 against £134.497.000 at this time last year.
Total ordinary expenditure is £339,641,304, compared with £325,843.269 at the corresponding date of 1935.
