ITALIAN CLUB REUNION
The fortnightly reunion of the Circolo di Lingua e Cultura Italiana was held in the Pioneer Club's rooms last Thursday. In the absence of Professor Boyd Wilson, the vice-president, Dr. A. D. presided. The programme, arranged by Signor Carraro, included the reading of “L’Altra Strada,” a comedy by Sabatino Lopez. The roles were taken by Miss Constance Prouse, Miss Tewsley, Signor O. Carraro and Signor V. A. Truda. An amusing diversion was the reading of some humorous Italian items, which were explained in English by Signor Carraro for the benefit of beginners. Music.-i! numbers were contributed by Mrs. T Treaey, who sang "Voce di donne” (Pon chelli). “Nay, Though My Heart Should Break” (Tschaikowsky), and “Softly Awakes My Heart,” from "Samson anil Delilah.”, and Mr. P. O'Connell, tenor, whose items were "Love or Fancy?” from •Madame Butterfly,” “Now Among You" (Manon Leseaut) and “O Paradiso" (L'Africaiue). Mrs. G. P. Aldridge accompanied. The evening closed with “Giovinezzn” and “God Save the King," after which supper was served. Tlie usual language instruction classes were conducted by Signor Carraro and Signor V. A. Truda, from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m.
