FAREWELL AFTERNOON

Members of the Woodville Croquet Club met at the home of Mrs. H. Brooker on a recent afternoon to bid farewell to Mrs. H. J. Whitelaw, one of the club’s most valued members, prior to her departure for Wellington. A short programme was arranged by the president, Mrs. J. Halpin, those contributing being Mesdames W. Galbraith, McCarthy and Mrs. James. Competitions were won by Mesdames H. Noble and Galbraith, who very graciously presented the prizes to the guest of honour. During an interval, Mrs. Halpin, on behalf of those present, hsked Mrs. Whitelaw to accept a crystal bowl, and wished her good luck in her new home. At the same time she eulogised all the good work Mrs. Whitelaw had done in connection with the Woodville Croquet Club. A beautiful posy of violets and other spring flowers and a miniature horseshoe were presented to Mrs. Whitelaw, and all present joined in singing "For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
