Embankment Collapses In Franklyn Avenue Following on the wet weather of the past few days, an embankment at the rear of 18 Nairn Street collapsed lastnight mid the spoil completely blocked Franklyn Avenue, a narrow lane connecting Nairn Street with Brooklyn Road. / Although an estimate was difficult late lust night, it is probable that about 50 tons of spoil came down. The embankment was about seven feet high, and tlie section which collapsed when a heavy Umber support Ing wall crumpled under the weight was about 50 feet in length. Port lon of the backyard of IS Nairn Street was curried away, together with a corrugated iron fence and a few small trees.
