NATIONAL UNION EVENING
A meeting of the National Union, which took the form of an informal social evening, preceded by an impromptu address by Mr. H. McCormick, was held last night at the residence of Mrs. Hope B. Gibbons, Lyall Bay. There was a good attendance, and Miss Paddy Hope Gibbons, who is a member of the National Union committee, acted as hostess. The programme was a varied and most interesting one, consisting of a play-reading, “The Camberley Triangle,” produced by Miss Agnes Elliott, in which Miss Pat Hogg and Messrs. Mervyn Elias and Dick Brookman took part; some piano solos, and a brief but very entertaining show of cinematograph films on a cinematograph. Supper was served half-way through the evening, and was followed by dancing in the ballroom and ping-pong. Some members who were not able to be present from the beginning arrived to enjoy this part of the programme. Mr. 11. McCormick was elected chairman of the executive, in place of Mr. Clive Brown, who has resigned; and Mr. D. Brookman, hon. secretary, in place of Mr. Felix Stafford, who has resigned. Mr. Mervyn Elias was elected hon. treasurer.
