GAY SPECTACLE
United Services’ Club Annual Ball The brilliant colourings of many uniforms made a vivid picture in Kirkcaldie and Stains’ Tearoom last evening and did much to supply the added dash of gaiety that always typifies the annual ball of the United Services Club, which was, if possible, more enjoyable than ever and attended by several hundreds of dancers. The main room was cleared of its tables and chairs, some of which were arranged in the lounge for sitting out. Masses of lovely flowers made the Jacobean room and-the lower lounge, which were both arranged for a delicious sit-down supper, a bower of colour. Iceland poppies mingled with fern looked particularly effective in slender crystal vases on the dark polished tables. There were also many little green vases of dainty blue grape hyacinths and pink cyclamen used in a charming and artistic manner. An excellent orchestra played popular dance music from a dais in the main room, and subdued lights glowed on many lovely frocks. The president of the club, Colonel W. H. Cunningham, and Mrs. Cunningham, who wore a frock of ciel blue lace,’ were present and received the guests in the lounge. The members of the committee who were present were: Lieut-Colonel R. A.
