Fell Into Vat Containing Hot Soda Solution By Telegraph—Press Association Auckland, July 22. Foiling Into a vat containing hot caustic soda used for removing grease and other foreign matter from tin ’cans, Leslie Russell, aged 29, a married man. resident at Ponsonby, was seriously injured at the factory of Messrs. Harvey and Sons this morning. He was wearing rubber boots and standing on a wet floor. Probably he slipped and fell forward into the vat, which stands three feet above the ground. - Fellow * mployees promptly hosed Russell, preventing the caustic soda from eating into his skin. He suffered severe scalds to his ankles and chest. The hospital reports his condition as serious.
