DEARER WOOLLENS

Price-rises Announced at Dunedin By Telegraph—Press Association Dunedin, July 21. A sharp rise in the prices of woollen goods operates here from to-day, ranging from 5 to 7 per cent., according to tlie grades used. The rises are directly attributable to recent legislation. The increase in junior wages extends from 25 to 50 per cent., and with the introduction of the 40-hour week in September, it is stated, goods must be still dearer. An authoritative statement is that the industry cannot hope to react far curably to the extra charges. Anticipating a rise, the public have been buying freely during the past few days. Only stock ordered by retailers after to-day will be affected by the increase.
