PORTRAIT FUND MEETING

A meeting of the executive of th.e Art Gallery Portrait Fund was held recently, when conveners of districts met to discuss the progress made with the collection of shillings. Reports showed that the scheme was being enthusiastically taken up by collectors, who were meeting with a generous response from all quarters. Requests for collection books have been received from many parts of the Dominion where women are keenly interested in ensuring the success of this national effort. In one suburb of Wellington £34 has already been collected, but workers are still busy there, as elsewhere, and many more shillings have yet to And their way to the City Treasurer before the executive can be satisfied that the women of Wellington have found their share of the funds necessary for the portrait of her Majesty.
