JOHNSONVILLE W.D.F.U.

The Johnsonville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held its first birthday last week. There was an excellent attendance of visitors and members, and the afternoon was spent in competitions. Musical items, contributed by Miss Stebbings and Miss Chalker were greatly appreciated. The flower competition for the month was won by Mrs. Seivers, with Miss Bryant second. Other competitions were won by Mrs. Tulloch and Mrs. Philbrow. The birthday cake was made and presented by the president, Mrs. Len Bryant, who, before cutting it, wished the branch many happy returns of the day. Mrs. . Windle,v, vice-president, responded on behalf of visitors and members, and presented beautiful bouquets to the president and to Mrs. Seivers, secretary and treasurer. Several congratulatory messages were read from members of other branches of W.D.F.U. and from the Farmers’ Union. Mrs. Gardiner served afternoon tea.
