WELLINGTON RUGBY

Second Division v. Senior B TRIAL MATCH AUGUST 1 The management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union, at its weekly nleeting last night, decided that a trial match should be played between fifteens representing the senior A second division and the senior B grade on August 1, and that these grades should play rounds on August 22 and August 29, points to count for the club championship only. The Onslow club wrote, stating that in order to deal effectively with the crowding of the lines by spectators on Nairnville Park No. 1 the use of iron spikes and ropes would be necessary, and the club's financial position at present would not permit of the necessary expenditure. The committee would personally endeavour to keep the-spectators off the ground. The Wellington College Old Boys’ Club protested against the number of games its fourth B team had had to piaj’ this season out of town. "You will appreciate,” the letter stated, “that constant playing, away is very hard financially upon each member of a team, particularly if they are only young boys, and in this instance my committee wishes to vigorously express its dissatisfaction to the union over a case where a team containing the youngest members of our club has had to play practically every suburban club in the same grade on their opponents’ grounds.” , It was decided to inform the Old Boys club that its fourth B team this season had played seven games at home, and five away, and that few clubs had had to send their teams away so seldom this season.
