Backing the Aga Klian. ”1 have been amusing myseit with working out a little Derby promlcm,” writes “Peterborough'’ iii the London “Daily Telegraph.’’ "If one had backed every horse entered for the Derby by the Aga Khan since 1930 for £1 each way would oue be up or down on the gamble? The answer te £22/13/9 up. ’lhe winning years were 1930, when Blenheim won at 18-1, representing a profit, after deducting Rustoni Pasha’s £2, of £22 10/-; 1932, When Dastur was second (18li, making a profit, after deducting Firdausi's failure, of £2/10/-, and 1936. Thte .year’s wins would amount to £l5 12/6 on Mahmoud and 10/- on Taj Ak bar, which, after deducting £2 for Bala Hissar,'makes a total of £l4/2/6. Last year the loss of £4 on- Theft and Hairan would have wiped out Banram's 5-4 win of £l/11/3. During the last sever, years the Aga Khan has had three firsts and two seconds, and has entered 11 other horses which failed to run iu the first three. His most disaertrous. year was 1934, when Alishah (fifth), Umidwar and Badruddin all failed. New Colours.

When Blazon ran jn the hurdle race at Waimate on Saturday he was niak ing bis.first appearance in the colours of the Southland owners, Messrs'. W. E. and J. S. Hazlett, who purchased him recently. He remains in the stable of fjie Oamaru trainer, J. Ross, but doubt less he will eventually join the other horses of hie- new owners in Southland. In the meantime he is booked to race at Riecarton next month, and may be an early winner over hurdle?, as he should benefit by race experience. Answer to Correspondent. “Ewart,” Wellington.—£l9/3/-.
