String Group Evening • A successful meeting of the string group of the British Music Society was held last week before a record attendance of members and visitors. The novelty of the evening was the Bach Brandenburg concerto for 'cellos and violas, played by nine instrumentalists, led by Mrs. Eric Meier, who also contributed two solo numbers for the viola by Chansson and Walthew, accompanied by Miss Ormi Reid. The other ensemble work was the Corelli Christmas concerto, performed with string accompaniment with Misses Ruth Reid. Ormi Reid (’cello), and Mrs. H. Meachem as soloists. A Haydn string quartet was played by Messrs. Davies. Logan and Lomas, and Dr. Keys, a Beethoven piano quartet by Misses Vondersloot, Reid and Goodson, and Mrs.' J. Campbell, who was also associated as violinist with Mrs. H. Tombs (viola) and Miss “Carey (piano) in an Interesting trio by Desire Paque.
