Wellington Appearances

From present advices it. is expected that Dr. Malcolm Sargent, the eminent English musician, who is to give two public performances in Wellington (and none elsewhere in New Zea land) will arrive in Auckland from Canada either on August 2 or 3 by the Aorangi. If he arrives on the firstnamed date he should reach Wellington on August 3. Only two public per formances will be given. Another third concert will be a miscellaneous one in the 2YA studio, with the symphony orchestra, assisted by the new choir Schola Cantorum, conducted by Mr. Stanley Oliver. That will be the first Sargent concert on August 6. The- public symphony concert Is to be held in the Town Hall On August 11, and the oratorio "Elijah” will be sung by the Royal Choral Union in the Town Hall on August 15. These three concerts promise to be the musical highlights of 1936 in Wellington.
