BOWLING JUBILEE
Lyall Bay Club’s Report
Suggestions as to how the Lyall Bay Bowling Club should celebrate its silver jubilee In the coming season are invited from members in the club’s annual report. The next opening of the green will be the twenty-fifth. The annual meeting will be held on June 24.
The report pcitits out that the club was only one point beljind the winners of its section in the last pennant competition. The junior pennant teams also performed well, and for next season the club expects to have many promising junior players. The elub won the midweek competition, and the club’s representative won the champion of champions singles. The following were the winners of the club’s championships: Senior singles, J. M. Brackenridge; senior pairs, W. Leahy and J. O'Gorman; club rinks, J. M. Brackenridge and J. Donald (skips), W. Churchill (three), J. A. Manton (two), G. Meehan (lead) ; champion clubs rinks, W. Leahy, A. Raven, G. Noad, J. M. Brackenridge (s.) ; Mrs. Brackenridge Handicap Singles Cup, J. 11. BurgoyneThoinas.
The subscription for junior players was reduced last year to 30/-, and the club gained 11 members. 'Hie club still had a shortage of members. The roll now contains 62 senior members. 12 junior members and five social member's. Although the green opened in very good order last season, its playing condition was not maintained, through circumstances beyond the control of the greenkeeper. However, it is hoped that with additional plant a good green will be provided this season.
