Final Gallops at Hawera

Candidates for Wanganui were given their final trials at Hawera this morning. Galloping was done on the outside of the course proper, the track being heavy. One Whetu and Soloist covered a mile in 1.5-1, the last three in 41. They finished together, but One -Whetu was going comfortably.

Glenthawn sprinted half a mile smartly in 53 3-5. He is booked for Trentham next month.

Golden Rill ran half n mile in 64Z-. Silvanus covered a mile in 1.56 without being extended. Corowa defeated Dancing Lady by several lengths over seven furlongs in 1.38. The time was moderate, but Corowa worked attractively. He will be ridden by 11. Wiggins at -Wanganui. ' Debut finished slightly ahead of Wotan over a mile in 1.55.

Supreme Court was ahead of Le Grand in a similar task occupying 1.531. The former worked very freely. Y’esterday morning Debut and Indiscretion schooled together over a round of the steeplechase fences, both giving good exhibitions. In contrast to Tuesday Debut jumped fast and confidently, pleasing more than his companion. Dancing Lady dislodged her rider at the third fence after clearing the first two jumps s.lfely of a round over the training hurdles. Neither rider nor horse was injured. Cynical Kid was again lame after working this morning. Ten Hawera horses leave for Wanganui to-morrow. Supreme Court and Dancing Lady may be reserved for the second day. Peter Jackson finished a length in front of Midian at the end of half a mile in 52. Sanhedrin and Tupeotu went a similar distance in 52 2-5, the former a shade in front.
