Shower Follows a Hard Frost THE LATEST ARRIVALS By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, June 18. After a hard frost at Wingatui this morning there was a keen wind from the south and a slight shower made the atmospheric conditions very unpleasant for the semi-final gallops for the winter meeting. Arrivals overnight included I’. T. Hogan with Wykemist, Braw Lad and Vocal, W. E. Hazlett with Signaller, Parasang and Rotowai, G. C. Bain with Bay Duke and Bay Biddy, and Miss Langford with Dunmure. The inside grass track was open the full width for fast work, but a few trainers preferred the plough track. Parasang and Rotowai were sent over a mile on the grass, the former finishing slightly in front, covering the last seven furlongs in 1.46 and the last half in 58 3-5. On returning to the enclosure Rotowai showed signs of lameness. Dunmure. looking better than at Riverton, was restricted to slow work. Darien took 1.0 2-5 to run half a mile, and though hunted out at the finish was not doing his best until the turn for home.

Cheap Money stumbled badly after jumping off from the five-furlong*-post, and was easing up at the finish to record 58 for half a mile.

Signaller finished in front of- Umtali and The Smuggler in a run over seven furlongs in 1.39 1-5. Golden King easily held Salmo Salat at the end of a mile on the plough tan track in 50 4 5. Vantoon finished strongly over seven furlongs, the last six in 1.20 4-5. Daring Deed did the last six furlongs of a circuit in 1.21. Bay Duke, looking inueh better than when he won at Invercargill last month, took 1.2 to run five furlongs by himself. Travenna. who was not hurried over the initial stages, took 1.2 over the same journey, and did it '.veil. Tautau Maid finished in front of Money Mine at the end of nine furlongs run in 2.10 3-5.

Grand Finale sprinted home over three furlongs of a circuit in 46 2-5. Tom Cat just beat Redolent over six furlongs in 1.35, but there was no pace on until they entered the straight. Vioienta, ridden by the visiting jockey R. Watson, ran five furlongs in 1.1-J.

Te Ahuarangi and Quinopal were companions in a round over the schooling fences. 'The former gave an attractive display and outjumped Quinopal at three of rhe fences. Drinkup was going better than Jeweller at the end of six furlongs in 1.23 1-5. A large number of horses were let ofi. with from half to three-quarter pace wvork.
