Struck Tin Containing Explosive

Blenheim, June 16.

Serious burns to the head, shoulders, and chest, involving the eyes, were received by Donald Gill, aged 12, son of Richard Gill, contractor, when a tin thought to contain an explosive went off in his hand.

The parents had just occupied a dwelling and the lad found the tin in a shed and struck it, with the result mentioned. He was taken to the hospital.
