BURGLAR’S QUICK EXIT
Disturbed by Night-watchman
By Telegraph—Press Association
Waipukurau, June 16.
A daring burglary was perpetrated about 2.30 this morning. A man, thought by the night-watchman, Mr. E. G. Price, to be between thirty and thirty-live years of age, was found by him on the premises of 11. B. Poppellwell and Co., Main Street, packing up men’s clothing into boxes. The man escaped and apparently reached a waiting car. He left an overcoat, chisel and tire lever behind in his hurried exit.
The man or a confederate evidently stole twelve gallons of petrol from F. Wells’s garage after smashing the lock.
Endeavours were made to enter two other shops.
