“Bobby Blake” Killed

Robert Coomes, aged 25, Lithgow, better known as ‘‘Bobby Blake," the champion motor-cyclist, was killed while practising at the Marouhra Speedway, Sydney, to-day, when his cycle skidded on the wet surface. ■ Blake, among other important victories, won the New Zealand Gold Helmet in 1932. He was a member of the 1933 Australian motor-cycle team which visited England. During the first international test race between England, Australia and America at Sydney, Blake fell and fractured his skull and broke both arms, necessitating his retirement from competitive riding.
