G. IL Alaekley, who will be accompanied by a number of departmental heads ami expert advisers. It is understood the party will comprise Air. Alaekley, Air. If. Valentine, assistant general manager, Air. G. J. Bertinshaw, chief engineer, Air. G. T. AVilson, superintendent of Transportation, Air. A. AV. AVellsted, commercial manager, Air. AV. Bishop, chief accountant, Air. I’. R. Augua, locomotive superintendent, and Air. E. S. Brit louden, district (raffle manager at Christchurch.
The object of the tour, it is understood, is that the heads of the department maj' make themselves acquainted with the country the line will traverse and with such technical difficulties as may be encountered in its construction. Opportunity will also be taken to go further into the earning capacity of the line.
