LODGE MEETINGS

Pacific Lodge, U.A.O.D. The quarterly meeting of Pacific Lodge. U.A.0.D., was held this week, A.D. Bro. Bromley presiding over a good attendance. Tlie bards report was received, and sick pay amounting to £5l/15/- passed D.P, Bro. 11. Willis ami I’.A. Bro. R. Ewing attended and judged the lodge for the Mooney Sb.eld. Bro. Smith rep-rtid mi the activities of tlie W.U.F. Societies’ Dispensary. Referring to the wort: of the Royal Arch Chapter, Bro. A. Ketko extended an invitation to officers and members to attend the next meeting of tho chapter on June 3, when the instillation of officers will take place. Three candidates were initiated into the order. The election of officers results*! as follows:— A.D.. Bro. G. Waddle, jum; J.P.A.. Bro. C. Bromley; V.A.D., Bro. W. Dobson; secretary, Bro. F. slawhinney; treasurer, Bro W. Hearn; M.C.. Bro. I. Smith:

1.G., Bro. F. sleldon; 0.G., Bro. B. Kuch; Arch Bards, Bros. T. Hearn and G. Cochrane; V.A. Bards, Bros. Liddle and Boyce; minute secretary, Bro. F. M'akeling; organist, Bro. F. Kuch. Excelsior Lodge. The A.D., Bro. Harris, presided over a fair attendance of members at Exselsior Lodge. The bards reported on sick members and sick benefits amounting to £37 4/- were passed for payment. The secretary reported the death of two members, the lodge standing in silence while the organist, Bro. E. J. King, played the “Garland of Flowers.” Reports were given on the meeting and work of the Royal Arch Chapter. A challenge from Pride of Brooklyn to play a game of bowls for the Lawton Buttons was received and accepted. A vote of thanks to the visitors was replied to by representatives of Pacific aud Ivy of Linwood. At the conclusion of the meeting Excelsior and Pacific Lodges played the fourth round in th" competition for the Wellington United Friendly Societies 500 Challenge Shield. Pride of Brooklyn Lodge. There was a good attendance of members nt Pride of Brooklyn Lodge, A.D. Bro. G. W. James presiding. The secretary, Bro. Tremayne, reported the death of Bro. Jones, and a vote of condolence was passed, the members standing in silence. The bards reported on sick members, and sick pay was passed. Excelsior Lodge notified their acceptance of a challenge for the Lawton Buttons. The contest is to take place in June. After general business had been dispatched, a dance was held in aid of the Christmas tree fund. Southern Cross Lodge, No. 124. Bro. J. P. Salmond, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Accounts totalling £46/1/2 were passed, and correspondence was dealt with. Arrangements were made to play H.A.C.B.S. Lodge for the U.F.S.C. 500 Shield at the first June meeting. The fol' wing officers, absent at the preceding installation meeting owing to holidays, were installed by the D. Bro. R. J. Mathers: Bros. C. Chandler, warden; G. Piaggi, 0.G.; L. Johnson. R.S.V.G., and T. W. Oaks. L.S.V.G. Bro. J. 1. Salmond, N G., was elected delegate to the U.F.S. Dispensary. After the meeting a social dance was held in conjunction with Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge,- No. 3S. slaraenui Lodge, No. 124, Miramar. Bro. E. Winter, N.G., presided over a good attendance. One candidate was nominated and arrangements made for several official visits. The following officers designate were installed for the current term by the D.D.G.SL, (Bro. R. J. slathers) and district officers: —Bros. E. Winter, J.P.G.; F. Princeps, N.G.; J Handley, V.G.; A. Evans, F.S.; R. Satherley, R.S.; and T. Binns, treasurer.
