NEW VICAR ARRIVES

Comes to Petone
The newly-appointed vicar of Petone, the Rev. ll.' S. I. Kenney, 8.A., has arrived in Petone and will conduct all the services at St. Augustine’s Church on Sunday. ' On Sunday week be will be formally instituted as vicar of I’ctone by the*Archdeacon of Wellington, the Rev. A. M. Hansell. Mr. Kenney was educated at. St. John s College, Auckland, and before ordination served as assistant missioner at the Wellington City Mission. Ordained iu 1925, he became assistant curate at AH Saints, Palmerston North, specialising in youth work, and in 1929 he went tn England to study for the arts degree of Cambridge University. During his four years there he was assistant curate at St. Andrews, Chesterton, a parish near Cambridge with a population of 7000. After taking his degree he returned to New Zealand and was appointed vicar of Foxton and Shannon, the post he has vacated to come to St. Augustine’s.
