The “Daily Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent says that a costly Japanese sword was yesterday handed to Herr Noedel, German Charge d’Affaires at Tokio, by representatives of the Swordsmiths’ Guild as a present for Herr Hitler. Mr. Goto, president of the guild, in making the presentation, said: “To Herr Hitler, whom we Japanese revere, we give this sword as a symbol of the Japanese spirit and trust that hereby German and Japanese friendship mav bo deepened.” Herr Noedel assured the deputation of Herr Hitler’s pleasure both in the gift and the spirit prompting it.
