SEATOUN R.S.A.

Novel Decorations at Well-attended Dance A complete transformation was achieved at. the Vent nor Street Schoolroom, Seatoun, •wlien, for the benefit of those who attended last night's dance organised by the Seatoun auxiliary of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, it was made to resemble a London night club. As one entered one saw a long passage decorated with numerous arches of red, white, and blue streamers, at the end of which was a large Maori arch through which one passed to the supper room. The dance room was certainly a triumph of' the decorator's art, for those who bad taken on the task of transforming it bad been extremely thorough iu their work. The celling, especially during the “twilight” dances, had been made to resemble the open sky. with starry effect, and a festive appearance was added by coloured streamers that radiated from the centre to the walls, which were lined with life-size caricatures of well-known personages, including Mae West and Hitler. Particularly realistic was the setting for the orchestra, which had a very busy night responding to the large number of encores that were demanded by the large number of dancers present. The orchestra could lx? seen through a typical London fog, and the hazy background suggested a section of Bond Street, complete even to flaring advertisements on the tops of some of the buildings and Big Ben illuminated in the foreground. An excellent supper was served, the room being bright with vases of glowing Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern. Quaint streamer effects gave a further touch of colour, and from the centre of the ceiling was suspended an attractive mirror ball. The committee responsible for the decorations and for the success of the dance comprised: Air. and Airs. Fans!low, Air. and Airs. Tait, Air. and Airs. Perry, Air. and Airs. Wixon, Air. and Airs. Kilaway, Air. and Airs. Forbes. Air. and Airs. Barr, Mrs. Aliller, Mrs. Kier, Air. and Airs. Taylor, Air. and Mrs. AlcFarlane, Aliss Barker, Airs. Collins.
