Stokes Valley Fatality

A verdict of suicide by hanging while in a state of acute mental depression was returned by the coroner, Mr. E. Gilbertson, J.P., yesterday, at the inquest on Joseph Christofanini, aged 41, who was found dead"at Stokes Valley on Sunday. Mrs. Louie Crawford said Christofanini had lodged nt her house at Lyall Buy, and was subject to very severe fits of depression. On Friday he had gone out to his bach at Stokes Valley. On Saturday he had telephoned her to come out and see about some sections, and on Sunday, when she went out, she found the body hanging to the branch of a tree, naked except. for a singlet. Evidence was also given by Dr. B. J. Dudley, who stated that deceased had suffered from a nervous disorder which caused periodic fits of severe depression.
