POLICY BILLS
Transport and Rent Restriction GOVERNMENT CAUCUS TO-DAY It is doubtful whether any of the Government’s new Bills will be introduced in the House of Representatives to-day. The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, said last night that a Government caucus would be held this morning, but its main purpose would be to complete consideration of the Transport Amendment Bill, the second reading debate on which will open in the House to-night. There had been no opportunity at the meeting of Cabinet yesterday to consider the Rent Restriction Bill, which was being prepared by tlie Attorney-General, Hon. 11. G. R. Mason, but if the Bill was ready it might be considered at this morning’s caucus and introduced iu the House later in the day. The Mortgage Corporation Amendment Bill would also be considered at the caucus, Mr. Savage continued, but the measure was uot likely to be introduced until Wednesday or Thursday. When the House resumes this afternoon after the week-end recess, discussion on the Factories Amendment Bill will be continued. The Bill will probably be passed to-day or tomorrow.
