New Traffic Control System in Operation.—The electromatic system of truffle control in Jervois Quay, Wellington at the entrance to Queen’s Wharf, was put into operation yesterday for the first time. In the above picture, taken from the Chief Post Office, the position of the pads is indicated by white crosses. It, will be seen that the traffic along Jervois Quay (from right to left in (lie picture, or vice versa) does not pass over pads, having right of way unless halted for traffic passing to and from the wharf Rates. Traffic wishing to enter the wharf from Jervois Quay from the south (from the right of the picture) follows the dotted line to pass over the pad in the lower right centre of the picture. The pedestrian push-button standards are indicated by white rings round the tops.
