Murcott —Brown

A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. John’s Anglican Church, Dannevirke, recently, when Poppy Allison, vounger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. j. Brown, Umutaoroa, was married to Harry Alexander, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Mureot.fi, Dannevirke. The Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiated. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with pink and gold to harmonise with the frocks of the bridesmaids. The bride, who entered the church with her father, made a charming picture in a frock of magnolia gossamer satin cut on classical lines, her long train falling from a ray of pin tucking. Her beautifully-embroidered veil was caught to the head with a juliet cap of tulle and orange blossom, and a bouquet of cream gerberas, nertnes and chrysanthemums with trails and maidenhair and asparagus ferns was carried. The bride was attended by Miss Pearl Murcott. sister of the bridegroom, and Miss J. Chaytor, Auckland. Both were frocked alike in rose lame matelasse cut on medieval lines, the peter pan collars and fishtail trains being trimmed with gold looping. They wore gold shoes and bead-bands of gold leaves and pink rosebuds, and they carried bouquets of pink roses, nerines, carnations and begonias with trails and asparagus and maidenhair fern. Mr. W. Murcott, Wellington, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. J. Craven was groomsman. Mr H. T. Russell was the organist, while Mr. W. S. Brown, brother of the bride, and Mr. T. F. Chapman acted as ushers.

After the ceremony a reception was held at Loader’s Hall, about 100 guests being received by Mrs. R. J. Brown, who was wearing a frock of navy wool crepe de chine with floral trimmings and hat and shoes in tone. She carried a bouquet of red roses, carnations and gerberas. She was assisted by Mrs. T. Murcott, who was in an ensemble of black and white coulter crepe, with hat and shoes to tom - . She carried a bouquet similar to that of Mrs. Brown. When the brid- and bridegroom left for the south the former was wearing a smart costume of green fleck, wi'h green blouse, hat, shoes and accessories to tone. Their future home will be at Dannevirke.
