OBITUARY

Mr. George Allen A resident of Masterton for 57 years, Mr. George Allen died in the Masterton Hospital on Saturday at the age of 82. states a “Dominion” Special Service message from Masterton. Mr. Allen, who had been in indifferent health for the past few weeks, was born at Newport, Isle of Wight, and was educated at Eton. He came to Now Zealand when he was IS years of age. landing in Wellington in the ship Euterpe, and shortly afterward he moved to Masterton. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, three sons and live daughters. The sons are Messrs. George. Frederick and Harry Allen, all of Masle lon. and the daughters are Mesdamcs E. Rule (Auckland). R. C. Andrew. W. Adamson. J. R. rhysick (all of Masterton) ami A. Logan (Wellington). There are 11 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Jean Barber At the age of 77 years. Mrs. Jean Barber died at her residence. Cole Street. Masterton. on Sunday, states a “Dominion” Special Service message from Masterton. Mrs. Barber was born at Lal Lal. Ballarat, Victoria, and lived there for the greater part of her life. Her husband. Mr Alfred Barber, died in Melbourne 11 years ago. Mrs. Barber, who came Io Masterton live years ago, is survived by three sons. Messrs. Leslie. Stanley and Lyle Barber. of Masterton. and a daughter, Mrs. L. M. Clarke, of Sydney.
