WINTER BOWLS

Results of Saturday’s Play Challenges were sitcccHsful both in the liadges and ferns' games played last week. In regard to the badges, played for on Saturday.afternoon, the challengers were Cooper, Morpeth, Bell and Doherty (s. I, who scored 21, as against II) scored by O'Donnell, Bryce. Mason and J. Hale. It was a case of a rink of experienced players against juniors, the latter only being defeated on the last head alter a thrilling contest. The mid-week ferns resulted as fo.-lows:—Holders'—-Faulkner, Murphy, Allen, Nicholls (si.), 16: Ross, Hanson, Munro, Dunean (s'.), 24. The friendly rink games played on Saturday afternoon resulted as follow: —- Rodger beat Feildiug. 22-16; Lawrie beat Walker. 23-21; Ward heat Green, 21-20; Munro beat Taylor, 26-13; M. Hale beat Riekette. 17-12; Burbidge beat Mailman, 25-17; Donald beat Burns, 27-17; McCune heat Conder. The result of the six-rink contest lietween the Inland Bay nnd Lynll Bay clulko was as follows (Island Bay skips mentioned first) - : M. Hale beat Brackenridge, 27-17; Hart lost to Topp, 18-21; Be<lell beat Bell. IS-15: Munro lost to Deare. 16-18; Ricketts beat Hogan, 2015: Dunean beat Conder, 23-18. The rink competition for New Zealandborn players, promoted by the New Zealanders’ Association, will commence at the indoor green at the Winter Show building. The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) is to be present and send up the first bowl. The president of the Wellington centre (Mr. J. Gilbert) will also be present. The draw is as follows : — Section A.—First round : Wilson (New-
