Little Change in Crossbreds MARKET CLOSED FIRM By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, May 15. Offerings at I lie wool sales to-day were 6909 bales, including 2547 bales New Zealand, and 4909 bales were sold. The selection was a moderate, one, consisting largely of crossbreds, which were less keenly competed for, buyers apparently being satisfied ; consequently withdrawals increased all round. New Zealand scoured merino, “Aviemore." made 23d.: slipe halfbred lambs. •■Fielding,’’sold at 154 d. highest, and 14d. average. During the series now closed 53.900 bales were offered, of which 64.500 were sold. ’l’hc Home trade bought 36,500 bales, the Continent 27.000. ami America 1000. Held-over wool totalled 32.500 bales, of which 20.000 were not offered. The total sales were approximately: Australian. 16.000 bales: Now Zealand. 33.000 bales. T'he French election uncertainties resulted in the Continent practically withdrawing from the market at lhe opening of the sales. The prices therefore yielded more than was expected from lhe quality. Merinos were 5 per cent, lower than at the March sales. Medium inferior were 5 to 7-J per cent, decline, fine crossbreds declined 5 per cent., medium and coarse hardened in price, and closed firm. The following cabled reports wore received on Saturday morning by Wellington houses: — Bank of New Zealand, produce department: —The sales have closed firm for nil kinds of wool. The market remains unchanged, if anything a little fli'mer. prices being well maintained ; Continental and Bradford buyers were the chief operators. 83.900 bales wore offered at lhe series, of which 64,500 were sold. We quote ;—Greasy merino, 60/64. yielding 4.S per cent., 131 d.; greasy fine halfbred. SG/SS, yielding (12 per cent., l-ljil.: greasy fine crossbred. 46/4S. yielding 75 per cent.. Sijd. ; crossbred lambs. 46/50, yielding 74 per cent., 11(1. Australian merino. :]d. dearer.

Levin and Co., Ltd.:—The auctions closed here to-day with a good tone. Good general compotilion. mainly from the Home trade. Compared with the opening rates, we quote: —Greasy merino, best, ■}d. per lb. lower; average. I<l. per lb. lower; line halfbreds, 50/56's. 4d. per lb. lower; crossbreds, unchanged; slipes. Imlfbred. pl. per lb. lower; medium and coarse, unchanged. Total quantity offered. 83.947 bales: sold, 64.500 bales; carried forward. 32.500 hales, including 19,000 from New Zealand.

Murray, Roberts and Co.. Ltd. : —Sales have closed with a good tone. Bradford buyers principal operators. Compared with last London sale's closing rates: Greasy merino, best descriptions, par to 5 per cent, decline: greasy merino, other descriptions, declined 5 per cent.; scoured merino, par to 5 per cent, decline: best descriptions show the least decline. Crossbred greasy, par to 5 per cent, decline; slipe, fine crossbred, declined 5 per cent.: slipe, other descriptions, pur to 5 per cent, decline: crossbred scoured, market sliows no material change.
