Abel, had wished the riders a happy and successful season, the field of nineteen started on the circular course of eleven miles, travelling around the Miramar peninsula. McLeod First Home The Port Nicholson Cycling Club opened its 1936 road season at Island Bay on Saturday last, with a race of 21 miles. I Mr A. J Couehmnn, president of the ' club, addressed the riders, and Mr. A. K. i Thomas, patron of the club, officially declared the season open. Fifteen riders faced the starter. . The winner, I. R. McLeod (Orniu.), rode a good hard race, to leave his comarker, Johnson, two miles from. home. L Cartmer (Omin.) punctured iu the first mile, and retired. W. Keighley ami C. McGurk had maeliine trouble. G. Amery and AV. Smithers, off 34. rode well to get second and third place, and there was a wonderful finish between the Imin, men and the three scratch men. In the sprint for the line O. Disley showed some of his old-time brilliance to win a well-judged effort from F. Frank]yn and K. Wilson.
